This is not a technical ICT Health Check.
This is an analysis of how ICT is used in your school. The outcome of this analysis is that the school will have an action plan to move the integration of ICT forward and turn the school into a 21st century school aligned with the Harnessing Technology and Next Generation Learning strategies.

What is the Schools ICT Health Check?
The Schools ICT Health Check ‘draws a line in the sand’. It identifies, exactly, the level of ICT maturity that the school has obtained based upon the Elements of the ICT Mark so that the school can plan and move forward. In addition, an Action Plan is created to guide the school.
What is the ICT Mark?
The ICT Mark is the third level of the Next Generation Learning Charter. (Level one being Committed to ICT, and level two being Recognised for ICT.) The ICT Mark is a national accreditation scheme which recognises schools for their achievements in reaching a standard of maturity in their use of technology.
How can my school achieve the ICT Mark?
Obtain a Schools ICT Health Check from e-learning 4 schools and complete Becta’s Self-review Framework. More information about the framework is a booklet called ‘What is the self-review framework?’ – click here to download.
What are the Elements of the ICT Mark?
- Leadership and Management
- Curriculum
- Learning and teaching
- Assessment
- Professional development
- Extended opportunities for learning
- Resources
- Impact on pupil outcomes
Each of these Elements requires an in-depth examination based upon criteria described in the Self-review Framework.
Why is this important to the school?
Using ICT is part of everyday life today and young people take it for granted. Schools that ignore this reality are missing a great opportunity to engage young people even more in their learning. In addition, achieving the ICT Mark is a whole-school achievement recognised in the wider community. It makes a statement about what is being provided for a young person’s education. Parents, through the Next Generation Learning strategy are being encouraged to seek schools with this recognition. See more about Next Generation Learning here.
